Before you start
Make sure GoDaddy actually runs your DNS. If your domain’s nameservers point somewhere else, such as Cloudflare or your web host, add the record there instead: changes in GoDaddy won’t do anything.
Add a TXT record in GoDaddy
Sign in and open your Domain Portfolio.
Select the domain, then open DNS.
Select Add New Record and choose TXT as the type.
Enter the Name. Type only the part before your domain: @ for the domain itself, or a prefix such as _dmarc. GoDaddy adds your domain automatically.
Paste the Value exactly as given, without extra quote marks. Leave TTL at the default.
Save. Changes usually show within minutes, occasionally up to a day.
What to type for each record
| Record | Name to type in GoDaddy | Value |
|---|
| SPF | @ | Your SPF record, starting v=spf1 |
|---|
| DMARC | _dmarc | Your DMARC record, starting v=DMARC1 |
|---|
| DKIM (Google) | google._domainkey | The key from Google, starting v=DKIM1 |
|---|
| Verification | @ | The text the service gives you |
|---|
Common mistakes
- Typing the full domain in Name, which creates
_dmarc.yourdomain.com.yourdomain.com. - Adding a second SPF record instead of editing the existing one. A domain can have only one; see multiple SPF records.
- Pasting smart quotes from a document, which break the record.
Scan your domain a few minutes after saving to confirm the record is live and correct.
